Course Description


(American Heart Association Course) Provided at our Turlock-CA, Merced-CA and Modesto-CA Locations

The BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR/AED Course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator). In the Instructor-led course, student participate in simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations. Students work with an AHA BLS certified Instructor to complete BLS skills practice and skills testing. Students also complete a written exam. This provider course requires approximately 3 hours to complete (1 hour less than the initial course), including skills practice and skills testing.

This course is updated with the new science from the 2015 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care. The course content focuses on:
High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants (Pediatrics)
The AHA Chain of Survival, specifically the BLS components
Use of an AED
Effective ventillations using a barrier device
Importance of teams in multirescuer resuscitation and performance as an effective team member during multirescuer CPR
Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants.

Intended Audience: MUST HAVE A CURRENT AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION BLS CARD (Bring copy to class for verification, otherwise participation in the course will be denied). Due to the limited class size, a reschedule fee of $25.00 will apply to change course date. This course is intended for healthcare professionals, including: physicians, nurses, paramedics, nurses, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, respiratory therapists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, physicial assistants, pharmacy technicians, dentists, dental hygienists, residents, medical or nursing students, nurse aides, medical or nusing assistants, and other allied healthcare personnel.
This course is taught in English, students that attend must be able to read, write and speak English in order to successfully pass the testing portion.

Certification: Upon completion of this course, students
receive an American Heart Association BLS E-Card issued via email within 48-hours from course completion. E-Card is emailed from Heart.org with instructions on how to claim card.
Student Materials: 15-1010 BLS Provider Manual (Includes BLS Reference Card) OR 15-3120 BLS Provider Manual eBook (includes Digital BLS Reference Card) Current BLS Provider Manual is required to participate in class.

Students travel from Turlock, Ceres, Modesto, Riverbank, Oakdale, Hilmar, Los Banos, Livingston, Atwater, Merced, Chowchilla, La Grange, Sonora, Ripon, Manteca, Tracy, Stockton, Lodi, Sacramento, California to take a BLS for Health Care Providers Class at First Lady Permanente Education Center. Classes are American Heart Association Certified, serving all Stanislaus County, Merced County and San Joaquin County.

  • NOTE: THIS COURSE IS THE BLS RENEWAL COURSE, MUST HAVE CURRENT AHA BLS CARD TO ATTEND (CURRENT SAME MONTH). If you do not have a current AHA BLS Card you need to take the provider course, it is only 1-hour longer.
