Nurse Assistant Program, CNA


Nurse Assistant Program:

This (160) hour program, consisting of (60) hours of theory and (100) hours of clinical experience plus practice labs are required for a certificate of completion. The Nurse Assistant program is a course leading to an entry level career in the health care industry. The course emphasizes care of the older adult client and assistance with the activities of daily living; bathing, dressing, exercise, movement, eating, eliminating, safety measures, and rehabilitation techniques following the NATAP 2018 American Red Cross curriculum. The Nurse Assistant Program also provides clinical instruction. Students will practice skills in lab and then be assigned to assist clients in a Skilled Nursing Facility.

Enrollment Fee:
To enroll in the program a non-refundable fee of $250.00 is due at time of enrollment into the program. If student chooses to cancel their enrollment, the fee will not be refunded (no exceptions). The remainder cost $1,550.00 covers all the following: Tuition, 1-set of scrubs, student workbook, advanced practice labs, course materials, does not include the state exam fee (State exam offered at First Lady Permanente Turlock site). Textbook not included- Mosby's Textbook for Nursing Assistants- 10th edition, students may use ARC 4th ed books for Summer 2024 cohorts. Remainder cost is $1,550.00 for 2024 programs, last updated price change was 10/5/2023. (The CNA state exam fee has been removed from program costs).

Course Completion Certificate:
Upon successfully completing the Nurse Assistant Program (160 Hours) the student will then be enrolled to take the State Certificate Exam and must pass in order to become a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA). The minimum grade required to pass the Nurse Assistant program is a 75% or better, including a pass/or fail on the skills final exam.

CNA State Exam Location:
First Lady Permanente is a state testing site for CNA graduates, testing is offered at 901-921 Geer Road, Turlock, CA 95380. Students register and submit payment for exam two weeks prior to the program end date.

Pre-Requisites:
The program is open to the general public for admission, student must have a high school diploma or equivalent from USA. In order to test at state student must be minimum 16-years of age, Valid Identification Card, Social Security Card. A Healthcare Provider (AHA) BLS class session is not provided in the course. FLP offers the AHA BLS CPR class with a $15.00 student discount code.. An AHA BLS card is required by day (3) of program. All enrolled students are required to attend an orientation must schedule with admissions office (209) 250-1200 option 5. By the first day of program students are required to have: One negative TB Test (Alternatives: Chest X-ray or QuintiFERON TB Gold), Physical Release documented on school form, negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of program, current immunizations (titers or shot record) and Livescan Background CDPH form. Student is responsible for applicable charges. Covid-19 Vaccination is optional and not required, testing may be required by clinical site.

(ELS 31) Hybrid eLearning Online CNA Program (160 hours):
Students must have access to a dependable computer device with internet connection and capability to use video and audio for the duration of class time. (Theory 60 hours) Theory time will be instructed online through zoom with NATP Instructor, each day consists of 7-hours with two breaks and a lunch break. Canvas is used for all assignments included but not limited to: Module quizzes, assignments, homework, daily participation quiz. A quiet, distraction free room is advised and driving during zoom session is not permitted. (Clinical 100 hours) Clinical is offered in person at state approved clinical sites. This program is our eLearning NATP (160) hour program offered to individuals that are interested in an eLearning CNA program. Two types of program schedules: Day 160 and Night 160.
22 day program: Theory TH-S 8:30am - 5pm, Clinical M/W or T/TH 7:30am - 4pm
30 day program: Theory TH-S 8:30am - 5pm, Clinical Sun 8:30am - 4pm, M/W or T/TH 4pm- 8pm
41 day program: Theory M-F 5:00pm - 9:00pm, Clinical M-F 4:00pm - 8pm
Attendance: Must attend all theory sessions, if a student is absent from theory they will be dismissed from program.
Technology hardware/ software requirements: Must have online access by using a desktop computer or laptop to complete program assignments, mobile devices may not be compatible. Minimum operating system is 2 Ghz or faster processor, 100 GB hard drive and 4 GB Ram. During online zoom sessions a webcam is required including access to microphone and speakers. A strong internet connection is advised to ensure there are no issues with connecting to server.

Attendance:
Students must attend all scheduled hours program total 160 plus mandatory state practice labs. If a student is sick and unable to attend program hours, they are only cleared to make-up a max of 8- hours for clinical sessions only Doctors Note applies for waived fees. The ELS-31 (30-day program) does not allow any absences for the first 3-days of theory, all hours are mandatory to attend clinical.

Wait List Policy:
Students must attend the scheduled group orientation and have all enrollment docs complete in order to be considered on the wait list. The $250.00 enrollment fee is required to secure a spot on the wait list, this fee is only refundable if student attends mandatory orientation and is not accepted off the wait list. The enrollment fee of $250.00 will be processed for a refund minus the $25.00 processing fee, a total of $225.00 will be credited to student's original form of payment. However, students that are on the wait list and not accepted into the program may also transfer $250.00 enrollment fee to the next available program.

Payment Plan:
Students have the option to go on a weekly payment plan the duration of the program, payments are due on (Friday's) each week of program sessions - processed by the Administrative Department.
